International Law Day

April 24th is International Law Day!
We have two great events on one exciting day. Refreshments will be served for both events. We hope that you can make it!

- Teresa Cheng, who is a Hong Kong barrister, and the new President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, will be speaking to students at 4:00 in room 203.
She will be talking about her experiences as a mediator and an arbitrator in Hong Kong.

- INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS IN CHICAGO:
A LAWYER'S PERSPECTIVE

THE INTERNATIONAL LAW SOCIETY WELCOMES:
Charles R. Bernardini, Partner, Ungaretti & Harris LLP
David Braun, Partner, Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP
Thomas H. Thorelli, Thorelli & Associates Inc.

April 24, 2008 | 5:00 p.m. Maguire Hall | Room 260

The distinguished speakers will talk about their work and will address the following questions:

• How did you become interested and/or involved in international law?

• Do you feel that continuing education or an advanced degree in
law or business administration is critical to be successful in this area? What are your thoughts on having this type of experience abroad?

• What would you recommend for someone who has a desire to work
in an international environment? Are there any courses or extra-curricular activities you can suggest that would better prepare students for this type of endeavor?

• In your opinion, what are the main differences or difficulties
you have experienced in working in different cultures or business environments?

• It is often noted that Chicago does not have a global outlook
like some other cities in the U.S. Do you agree with this? What, if anything, can be done to change this perception?
